NBA Releases second round of voting results
Dec 28th
And it’s not looking too good for Deron.
The good news is that Steve Nash has overtaken Tracy McGrady for second place in voting. If you haven’t figured it out, that’s good because T-Mac won’t be stealing a spot on the team this season should the current voting hold up. But as it looks like Deron will need to get in via the coaches’ vote, having Nash get one of the starting spots means that Deron has a better chance to get selected given that players like Chris Paul, Jason Kidd, and Chauncey Billups will all be vying for spots.
So the coaches could select two backup PGs. If T-Mac steal a spot, then Nash would have to get voted in and that would leave only one spot likely from amongst the remaining PGs.
We’re still voting though and trying to bump Deron up some. I’m working on a plan for the second phase of things when the coaches take over. It will be ready to go when we hear the starters announced because the coaches don’t have that long to vote. Heck, we may even try to get it going before the first team is announced.
Thanks for your support and votes. I know Deron appreciates it.

Deron Williams on TNT
Dec 18th
Okay, first, that Derek Fisher shot still gives me chills.
Second, I loved that Kenny and Charles drilled him on the consistency and the Boozer thing. Finally we get some truth about the Boozer situation. It probably is better now but I don’t know how much.
I loved that they went after him because I don’t know if anyone else has in that regard. I’m sure Deron gets after himself but there are no vets on the team to get on him. Look at Rondo in Boston. Having the big three there has probably made him the player that he is today. Deron has been missing out on that since Fisher left. I think Deron needs someone that he looks up to to push him and Kenny and Charles did just that.
We don’t have anyone that acts as the veteran that can tell Deron how it is or tells him that he can still do more, etc. We miss Fisher in that regard. I think Kenny might be right. Making the all-star team is great, but if that’s Deron’s goal right now, that’s not enough. I like how Kenny said forget about that, you need to focus on making the first or second teams (though he has made the second team already). Great stuff. I would like to know if they gave him any off-camera advice.
Like I’ve said before, maybe the focus on getting to an All-star game is a bad idea. Maybe the focus should be instead of voting Deron to the All-star game, it should be to push for an MVP-type season which would mean focusing more on winning instead of putting up stats.
Though, I would like to point out that since the post about VoteDeron.com being a bad idea, his TOs are down and his play has gone way up.

Ball Don’t Lie picks up on Deron’s video @jeskeets
Dec 16th
JE Skeets from Ball Don’t Lie put up Deron’s video which is great for views and traffic and hopefully votes for Deron. Doesn’t sound like he’s too sympathetic though,
Here’s a novel idea: Let’s just vote every player into the All-Star Game. We’ll play 240-on-240.

A VoteDeron.com update
Dec 15th
Listen, I’ve been slacking and you’ve been slacking.
I never expected VoteDeron to be a huge impact on the voting but I should still be updating more frequently. So before the New Year, let’s be resolute and double our efforts, okay?
As you may know by now, Deron is way down in the fan vote for the All-star game. Kobe is out in front of course but he’s followed by Tracy McGrady who has yet to grace the court with his presence. That hurts Deron two ways in the one, there’s someone above him in the voting. But most importantly, should he hold on to that two spot, Deron would be an at-large pick and have to be selected by the coaches when you have the likes of Chris Paul, Chauncey Billups, Steve Nash, Brandon Roy, etc. that will be deserving of spot. I almost need to start a DontVoteForTMac.com site and somehow convince he Chinese fan base not to vote for TMac.
As it is, we’ll deal with the coaches vote when that happens.
In the meantime, keep voting and more importantly, spread the word via blogging, Facebook, Twitter, at work, etc. to get others to vote for Deron. And while you’re at it, vote for the other Jazz players.
Deron is barely 11th right now and I’d like to move him up at least. It’s a tough climb with just about a month left in voting. So it’s now or never.

Deron Williams with 38 & 13 in loss to the Timberwolves.
Dec 15th

Deron's 38 & 13 not enough.
As I wrote in the game recap, what a wasted performance by Deron Williams. He continues to get better as the season goes on. And when he turns in one of his best performances of the season, it all goes by the wayside because the Jazz can’t play D and hold one of the worst teams in the league offensively to under 100 points.
Deron had 19 of those 38 in the second quarter alone. He’s not going to do that all game of course, but that would put him on pace for a 76-point outing.
He was stroking it from three in that second quarter going 2-2 and was 6-8 overall from the field. Unfortunately he couldn’t knock down his last three attempt of the game that would have given the Jazz the win.
Johnny Flynn and Ramon Sessions couldn’t guard him all night. Too bad Deron and the Jazz couldn’t guard Flynn who ended with a career-high of 28 and hit the game-winning shot.
The last week had seen the Jazz beat the likes of San Antonio, the Lakers, and the Magic which helps boost Deron’s name and gets him a few extra votes for the All-star game. But it’s games like this that brings that down a notch and that’s too bad. Some of the blame does fall on Deron and I’m sure he’d be the first to take it. But playing for a small market team, the Jazz are going to have to start winning and winning a lot to make others take notice.
This should have been the cap on a glorious week and now just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
