Deron Williams’ line vs. LA Clippers

D-Will vs. The Beard

D-Will vs. The Beard

For three quarters it looked like Deron was going to have to put the team on his back again if they were going to have a shot at beating the Clippers at home.  The team hadn’t played any meaningful defense at that point.

The Clippers scored 60 points at the half and it looked a lot like whoever had the ball last was going to win.

Deron finally got a breather to begin the fourth quarter.  Jazz fans held their breath as just a couple days ago the Denver Nuggets built a huge lead to start the 4th quarter when Deron was on the bench.

Thankfully, the Jazz were able to ride Paul Millsap for the fourth quarter on the way to a 111-98 win.

A win makes Deron’s stats look that much better.  He had 17 & 7 at the half keeping the Jazz close.  He only had just 4 & 2 in the second half, but it wasn’t as needed as the rest of the team picked up the slack.  Even still, he finished with 21 & 9 (if you haven’t done the math already).  Add to that 4 rebounds and just two turnovers.  I’ll take that.

The only thing more you could ask for to start the season would be to have the Jazz 2-0.  So early in the season, Deron is averaging 24.5 & 11.  Great start.

Next game Monday vs. the Rockets.

Preview for Deron Williams against the Clippers

Deron has averaged almost 22 & 8 against the Clippers the past three seasons.  Baron Davis is back this season for the Clippers after being out with injury and having a pretty down year last season.

The Clippers having won exactly 1 game in Salt Lake city the past 30 years.  We’ll see if they can keep that going tonight and if Deron can have another big game and build his All-star momentum.

Head to SLCDunk.com at 5 MDT if you’d like to follow along with the game and comment.

d-will8.cn

Thanks to some great publicity, we have our first ally in China.  Jalen of www.d-will8.cn passes this along,

“It’s really a encouraging news for us Chinese fans that D-Will’s lack of All-star experience piss some native guys off and they’ve set up a website hoping to get him more exposure.

I am a moderator of a Chinese D-Will site www.d-will8.cn and I am honored to be on behalf of some fans here to voice our supoort for D-Will.
I’ve translated your first thread “Welcome to VoteDeron.com” into Chinese (url: http://www.d-will8.cn/thread-5913-1-1.html) and introduced it to others around me. The capture of your website is also put on the first page of my site, as you can see it on the attachment.
Hope fans from US and China unite to send Deron Williams into All-Star!! He deserves it much more than some others!”
And it’s just getting started.

Deron Williams recap against the Denver Nuggets – 28 October 2009

Deron dominated all night. Too bad the Jazz couldnt hold on.

Deron dominated all night. Too bad the Jazz couldn't hold on.

Deron had a great start to his 2010 All-star campaign.  He dominated Carter all night long on his way to 28 points and 13 assists in his first game of the season.  He was 9/15 from the field including 2/3 from behind the arc.  I’d like to see those turnovers come down though.  He had 5 last night.

Too bad it came in a losing effort as the Jazz fell to the Nuggets 105-114.

Next up are the Clippers as the Jazz head home to the much more friendly ESA.

Welcome to VoteDeron.com

Why VoteDeron.com?  Let’s get straight to the point.  Deron Williams should have been an All-star by now.  The fact that he hasn’t yet is crazy.  Injuries, bigger names in the WC, and lack of exposure have all contributed to not having been an official All-star despite putting up All-star stats.

To borrow from Mark McGwire, we’re not here to talk about the past.  The purpose of VoteDeron.com is to get as much exposure as possible for Deron and get him in either via the fan vote (preferred) or the coaches vote.

VoteDeron.com will provide daily updates of Deron’s stats, videos, accomplishments, etc.  We’ll also provide coordinated efforts to get the word out and to get votes for Deron.

That’s where you come in.  It’s up to you to retweet, Facebook, and blog about everything you can find on Deron and encourage people to vote for him.  If you’re tweeting about him, make sure to use the #votederon hashtag.  And of course follow @votederon for updates.

The campaign will be in two parts.  First, we’ll try to get Deron in via the fan vote.  It will be very hard in the west given Kobe, Paul, Parker, etc.  But we have three months to try to accomplish that.  If that fails, the next step will be to get word out to the coaches that vote for the reserves.

Deron has been getting a lot of pre-season buzz for finally making the All-star game, but I’m not willing to take anything for granted.  Hopefully this site is just a drop in the bucket of in the overall movement that gets Deron sent to Dallas for his first All-star game.  Even if that happens, we’ll be doing this again next year given the competitive west.

So first, follow @votederon.  Second, re-tweet and add @votederon to your #FF tweets.  Those with blogs, make sure to write about it and link to VoteDeron.com.  We need a lot of activity.  I’ll be cross-mojinating here as well.

If anyone would like to help, hit me up on twitter or email.  Let me know your ideas on how to make this huge.

I’m working on setting it up so that you can submit stories, videos, etc. that you find like you would on SLC Dunk.

Comments on VoteDeron.com are easy as well.  You can sign in to comment (create a story in the future) using your existing Google, Wordpress, Twitter, or other accounts.  Works pretty smooth so you don’t have to worry about another login.

The website isn’t a finished product by any means.  I’ll be continually updating it with new features and design.  I just wanted to get the content portion of it going at the start of the season.

So to get started, follow @votederon, email me votederon@gmail.com with info/question,  and stay tuned for more.
